Bible Story: Review story of Jesus Dies and Arises
(Matthew 27-28)
Option #1: If you have a children’s Bible or story book
about Easter. Read it. Then have a prayer.
Option #2: If you have more time, from small paper
plates prepare puppets of a scared boy, a sad girl, a surprised girl, and a
happy boy and girl. You will use these
props to help tell the story. OR Have your child show you what his/her
face looks like when he/she is scared ,sad, surprised, and happy.
If you are using Option #1, simply
read your story.
If you are using Option #2, here
is the story review.
Show the scared/sad puppet faces
or have your child show you his/her scared/sad face.
Say, “Our Bible story this
week talks about scared/sad people. What
made them scared/sad? (Jesus’ friends
were afraid of the soldiers; Jesus had died; they thought they would never see
Jesus again.) We’re sad too when we know
we have sinned—when we have done bad things.”
Show the surprised girl or have
your child show you his/her surprised face.
Ask, “What do you think
surprised the girl? Was it a happy or
scary surprise? What makes you
surprised?” Allow discussion time. What happened in our Bible story to surprise
some people?” (Jesus was not in the
tomb.)
Show the happy face puppets or
have your child show his/her you his/her happy face.
Say, “These children are
happy. They know that Jesus loved them
so much that He died for them. And now
Jesus is alive. They know that Jesus
forgives their sins. We are happy
because we know Jesus loves us and forgives us too.”
Read Matthew 28:5-6. “The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be
afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; He ha risen, just as He
said. Come and see the place where He
lay.’”
Prayer: Dear Jesus, I am happy you are alive and that
you love me all the time. Amen.
