Bible Story: The Emmaus Disciples (Luke 24:13-35)
Begin today with the finger play
“Words about Jesus.” (You will also need
a piece of paper and something to write with to make a list later as you tell
the story.)
Here is my Bible, Hands
together, palms touching.
I will open it wide Palms
open, with little fingers touching.
To read about Jesus Make
sign of the cross.
From the words inside. Pretend to read.
Say this week’s memory work,
“Continue in what you have learned.” 2 Timothy 3:14.
Sing “In the Bible” to the
tune of “Clementine”.
In the Bible, in the Bible. Make a Bible book with hands.
In the Bible we can read Pretend to read.
Of God’s love in sending Jesus,
Make a cross with your fingers.
How He died
for you and me. Point to each
other.
Say, “We
are all God’s children, and there are so many things we have learned about
Jesus!”
Ask: Who has told you about Jesus? Record answers on paper. (Answers might
include moms, dads, other care givers, teachers, pastors, the Bible.) Mention any your child didn’t say.
Ask: What are some things you have learned about
Jesus? (Continue adding to your list.
Remember that word lists are for children to learn about words and what
we can do with words, not for them to learn to read lists.)
Prayer: Dear
Jesus, help us remember the important things we learn in the Bible. Help us keep them in our hearts. We love You, Jesus. Amen.
