Bible Story: Dorcas (Acts 9:36-43)
Memory Work: Do not . . . forget to share with
others. Hebrews 13:16
Materials: Find the paper with the 4 pictures and the
word Dorcas at the top of the page. Cut
the pictures apart to prepare for today’s story. You will also need the paper with the words
Dorcas Glorifies God printed at the top of the page as well.
Use the following script to tell
the story.
Long ago there lived a woman named
Dorcas. Show Dorcas. Dorcas heard about Jesus and how He
died on the cross to forgive her sins.
Show the cross. Dorcas knew
that she would live in heaven someday with Jesus. Dorcas loved Jesus very much. She knew Jesus had done something
special for her, and she wanted to do special things for other people to show
her love for Jesus.
In the town where Dorcas lived, many
people were very poor. Show the poor
family. Sometimes the clothes they
wore had holes in them. Sometimes the
people didn’t have enough food to eat. Dorcas showed her love for Jesus by giving
the people new clothes. She showed
her love for Jesus by giving the people good food to eat. Replace the poor family with the blessed
family. The people in the town knew
that Dorcas loved Jesus. They were
thankful for their friend Dorcas, who learned from Jesus to be kind.
Continue the story by using the paper with
the words Dorcas Glorifies God at the top of the page. Share the words at the bottom of the page and
have your child color the picture.
Conclude with the following
prayer.
Prayer: Dear Jesus, be with us and teach us how to be
thoughtful helpers. Help us show Your
love by being helpers and giving Your good gifts to others. Amen.
