Friday, April 3, 2020

1.       Things to do every day.
a.       Read for 20 minutes.
b.       Practice writing your name.
c.       Calendar work
d.       Enjoy a Bible story.

2.       Let’s Get Ready: Tools you will need to do your work.
a.       Pencil
b.       Crayons and/or Colored Pencils
c.       Scissors
d.       Glue Stick
e.       Manipulatives (These are items that your child can count, sort, make patterns with, and so on.  For example: color crayons, Easter eggs, erasers, paper clips, clothes pins, legos – be creative.

3.       Journal– On a piece of paper draw a picture of something that begins with the “Ee” sound.

4.       Sharing- Tell your grown up about something that begins with Ee.

5.       Review:  Look in your homework folder to find the paper with the 3 caterpillars.  Write your name on the back. Turn your paper over and find the top caterpillar.  Make an AB pattern on that caterpillar.  We will save the other caterpillars for a different day. (An AB pattern could be to use two colors, or two shapes.)

6.       Create:  You will need some paper and Easter cookie cutters.  (If you don’t have Easter cookie cutters, draw your own Easter shapes.) Trace around some of the cookie cutters on your paper.   Decorate the shapes by coloring with crayons, colored pencils, watercolor paint, or any other medium you may have at home.  Then cut the shapes out and mount them on another paper to make a picture.  You also might want to make some more shapes, cut them out and make Easter cards for your family.

7.       Play:  Take turns hiding and hunting Easter eggs.  The eggs we use at school are empty because they are resurrection eggs. (The tomb was empty on Easter morning and so our eggs are empty.)  We also have a couple of rules that you might want to adapt for your house.  1.) We only hide eggs in a certain area in our room and the hunters can’t peek while the hiders are hiding the eggs.  2.) When the hunters think they have found all the eggs, we count them before we hide the eggs again.  (It not only keeps us from losing eggs, it’s good counting practice for 1 to 1 correspondence.)  Have Fun!!!

8.       Bible Story:  Easter (Luke 24:1-12)
Read an Easter story about Jesus or the story from Luke or your children’s Bible if you have one.
Sing the following celebration song to the tune of “Row, Row, Row Your Boat.” (Hint:  The first and second phrase of each stanza require different tempos.)

Easter morning came,
        Easter morning came,
Quietly, quietly, quietly, quietly,
Easter morning came.

Women to the tomb,
        women to the tomb,
Sadly walking, sadly walking,
Women to the tomb.

Look – the stone was gone,
Look – the stone was gone.
Surprise, surprise, surprise, surprise,
Look – the stone was gone.

Jesus was not there, Jesus was not there.
Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice, rejoice,
Jesus was not there.

We can celebrate, we can celebrate.
Joyfully, joyfully, joyfully, joyfully,
We can celebrate.

Prayer:  Dear Jesus, we know that You died for us, and that makes us sad.  But we also know You became alive for us, and that makes us happy.  Thank You, Jesus.  Amen.

Have a fabulous SPRING BREAK and HAPPY EASTER!!!!  He is risen!  Alleluia!
