Manipulatives (These are items that your child

REMINDERS:
·
Remember to write your name on all of your
papers.
·
Check the weather. Draw a simple picture if you like. (For example: a sun for sunny, a cloud for
cloudy, a cloud with some curly lines for windy and a rain drop for rainy. OR you could decide to just draw a lion for a
wild weather day and a lamb for a calm and sunny (gentle) weather day.
·
Figure out the day of the week and read the
number – “Today is Wednesday,
April 15th ,2020” and
we have been in school 132 days.
·
Do cross-over exercises. Touch your left hand to your right ear. Touch your right hand to your left ear so
your arms are across your body. Uncross
arms and shake them out. Now touch your
left hand to your right shoulder and your right hand to your left shoulder. You’ve made an X. Uncross and shake out your arms. Continue repeating the pattern touching your
elbows, hips, knees, and feet.
·
Balance on one foot for 12 seconds, then switch
feet and balance on your other foot.
·
Practice opposites. Try to name at least 5 every day. Add more as you think of them.
·
Help your child to continue to hear initial
sounds of words. Ask him/her to tell you
what sound he/she hears when you say a word.
3.
Make a list of 5 words that begin with
the “Rr” sound.
4.
Review:
1).
Counting and Fine Motor:
·
Locate the paper with the rainbow at the bottom
of the page and the three numbers on the right side of the page. Have your child write his/her name at the top
of the page. Help your child with the
directions as needed. Have your child
color the coins and the rainbow. Remind
your child to do careful work and to use at least 3 colors.
·
Next find the paper that reads “Wind Starts With
W”. Review the sound that the letter W
makes. Read the directions to your child
and have him/her complete the page. Have
your child write his/her name at the top of the page and color the pictures.
2).
Math:
·
Review measurement attributes that we’ve learned so far
along with the vocabulary, length
(short, long, same), weight
(heavy, heavier, light, lighter), seriation (shortest, shorter, tallest, taller, order), capacity (holds more,
holds less), and area (size, big, small, covers more, covers less). Focus on reviewing length, weight,
seriation, and capacity. We are
just learning about area.
5.
Bible Story: The Emmaus Disciples (Luke 24:13-35)
Make three simple name tags by
writing “Friend” on two circles of paper and “Jesus” on a third circle. Turn them into necklaces by punching a hole
at the top of each circle and put them on a string or simply have your child
hold a name tag while participating in today’s Bible action rhyme.
Briefly tell the story of the two
men on their way to Emmaus, using the script from yesterday.
Then review the story with the
following action rhyme. Ideally you will
need 3 characters. If you don’t have
enough family members to participate enlist the help of some dolls or stuffed
animals. The two participants depicting
the disciples wear or hold the “Friend” name tags and the participant
pretending to be Jesus wears or holds the “Jesus” name tag. The rest of the family can participate by
saying the poem with you. Repeat it as
many times as you like so that everyone participating can have a turn.
Two friends were walking,
walking, walking. (Two participants walk together.)
Two friends were talking,
talking, talking. (The two participants pretend to talk to each other.)
Two friends were very, very sad.
(Participants put their heads down and look unhappy.)
Jesus came walking, walking,
walking. (The third person joins the other two.)
Jesus came talking, talking,
talking. (The third person pretends to talk to the others.)
Jesus said, “You can be glad!”
Review questions to ask:
·
Where can we find this story? (In the
Bible)
·
How did the men feel before they saw Jesus?
(Sad)
·
How did the men feel after they knew the
stranger was Jesus? (Happy)
When we read about Jesus in the
Bible, we can be happy too. The Bible
tells us that Jesus forgives us for all the bad things we do because He loves
us and died on the cross for us. The
Bible tells us that Jesus is alive and is always with us, loving us and taking
care of us.
Prayer:
Dear Jesus, thank You for the Bible.
It teaches us important things.
It teaches us about You. Amen.
PLEASE REMEMBER:
6.
You can save some ideas for later.
7.
You don’t have to do it ALL.
8.
Pace yourself!
