·         Locate the paper with the words Summer Count at the top of the page.  Have your child follow the directions to complete the page.

5.       Bible Story:  Timothy (Acts 16:1-5; 2 Timothy 1:1-5; 3:14-17)

Memory Work:  I remember you in my prayers, night and day.  2 Timothy 1:3

Preparation:  Today as you tell the Bible story, you and your child will have the opportunity to act out the Bible story.  The story is written as if it were a play with scenes.  Let your child choose to be any of the main characters.  Use additional family members, stuffed animals and or dolls to fill out the rest of the cast.  Ask your actors to freeze while you read and then, afterward, act out what he/she heard you say.

Scene 1:  Timothy lives with his mother Eunice, and grandmother, Lois.  These two women told Timothy about God.  They told him that God loves him very much and that some day God would send a Savior.  Pause for your child and family to act out this scene.

Scene 2:  When Timothy was a teenager, a pastor came to his town.  His name was Paul.  Paul told Timothy and Eunice and Lois about Jesus.  He said that Jesus, the promised Savior, had come.  He said that Jesus had died on the cross so their sins could be forgiven.  He told them that Jesus came alive again at Easter and promises us eternal life with Him.  Timothy, Eunice, and Lois believed.   Pause for your child and family to act out this scene.

Scene 3:  When Timothy grew up, He became a pastor like Paul.  Timothy and Paul traveled together.  They told people about Jesus, the Savior.  Paul and Timothy became such good friends that Paul loved Timothy as if he were Timothy’s father.  Pause for action.

Scene 4:  When Paul and Timothy weren’t traveling together, Paul wrote letters to tell him more about Jesus.  Two of these letters are in God’s Book, the Bible.  Timothy and Paul prayed for each other.  Paul and Timothy helped others learn about Jesus and His love.  Pause for action.

Prayer:    Thank You, God, for making me part of Your family, for making me part of my family, and for giving me friends and teachers.  In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.

*Remember, you can do a little or a lot.  These are suggestions to help your child stay on track for Kindergarten in this challenging time.  Mrs. Sistrunk and I appreciate any of your efforts.
