Bible Story: Timothy (Acts 16:1-5; 2 Timothy 1:1-5;
3:14-17)
Memory work: I remember you in my
prayers, night and day. 2 Timothy 1:3
Retell the Bible story of Timothy
and include other biblical families. By
the power of the Holy Spirit the children will grow in thankfulness for their
families and will desire to help them.
Draw pictures (they can be stick drawings) of
Adam and Eve, Hannah and Samuel, Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus. Use your puppets for Timothy and Eunice/Lois
from Day 1 this week.
Have the grown-up Timothy puppet
tell the lesson in first- person narrative.
Have him greet your child. Then
bring out the Eunice/ Lois puppet, placing them near Timothy.
This is my grandmother and
mother. They told me stories about God’s
love when I was just a little boy. They
told me about these people. Show the
pictures of Adam and Eve. Do you
remember them? Adam and Eve were
the first family. What do you think it
was like to be the first family? Adam
and Eve also did the first bad things. They sinned. But God promised to send Jesus to save them
so they could go to heaven someday.
Remove Adam and Eve and add Hannah
and Samuel. Timothy continues. My mother and grandmother told me
about Hannah and Samuel. Hannah wanted a
baby. She prayed to God, and God gave
her Samuel. Hannah was so happy and
thankful to God for the gift of a son.
What do you think Hannah and Samuel did together? How did they help each other? Discuss.
Remove Hannah and Samuel. Add baby Jesus with Mary and Joseph. When Pastor Paul came to our city,
he told me all about baby Jesus and His mother Mary and His father Joseph. God made Mary, Joseph, and Jesus a
special family. What did Mary and Joseph
do to take care of baby Jesus? Let
your child tell. God gives you your
family to take care of you too.
Paul told us that when Jesus
grew up, He died on the cross to take away our sins. Jesus became alive again at Easter. Now I help Pastor Paul tell other people
about Jesus.
Prayer—Thank
You, Jesus, for being my very best Friend.
Help me to be a good friend like Paul was to Timothy. Thank You for giving me all my friends at
school and at home. In Your name we
pray. Amen.
